Waste Sorting Guide
Waste Sorting Sorting waste reduces the amount of trash that ends up in landfills or is incinerated. By recycling materials, we save energy and raw materials needed to manufacture new products. Proper waste sorting can also reduce the costs associated with waste collection and processing.
Communal Waste – Black bins: All waste that cannot be sorted.
Paper – Blue bins: Leaflets, newspapers, magazines, notebooks, office paper, paper packaging, paper bags, and folded or torn cardboard boxes.
Glass – Green bins: Non-returnable glass packaging (beverages), jars, glass shards. Bottles should be empty and free of lids or plastic/metal parts. Labels do not need to be removed.
Plastics & Metals – Yellow bins: PET bottles, clean plastic containers (shampoo, soap, detergents), plastic bags, metal packaging, cans, aluminum foil, and aluminum parts (from yogurt lids, etc.).
Bio-waste – Brown bins: Fruit and vegetable scraps, tea bags, leaves, grass, and garden waste.
Electronic Waste – Special containers: Batteries, all electronics. Prohibited in communal waste bins.
Oils – Special containers: Cooking oils and fats. Do not pour down the sink.
Textiles – Special containers: Clothing and footwear.
